As is the case everywhere when you travel Thailand, transport in Pattaya is well organized, developed and plentiful, making getting around in Pattaya fun and easy. The Baht Bus, called Songthaews elsewhere in the country, is one of the cheapest transportation options available in Pattaya.
From 100 to 150 Baht you will get from your resort in Pattaya to just about anywhere in the city. Make sure you negotiate your fee before getting on and we suggest you have the correct amount available. Motorcycle taxis are available for the adventurous types among us. These are even cheaper than the Baht bus, fast and definitely the more dangerous of the options. Again, negotiate your fee before you get on. Motorcycles or scooters are available for rent everywhere in Pattaya and if you can ride one it is probably the best ad cheapest option. Here you will need an international driver license.
Wear a helmet, drive slowly and be careful. It remains a dangerous mode of transport. The safest though not the cheapest transport available is to simply rent a car or jeep. This allows you the time to explore Pattaya at your own pace and leisure. It is important to make sure the vehicle is fully insured since some street shops do not fully insure.
It will also be a good idea to walk around the car and take pictures of any existing damage to avoid disagreements afterward. Once again you will need an international driver’s license. Naturally taxi-meters are available all over Pattaya and, though not the cheapest, it is the most comfortable mode of transport. Most of the Best Pattaya hotel venues will also be able to assist with pointing you in the right direction with your transport needs. |
