Transportation For Your Koh Tao Resort Stay |
One major concrete road currently exist which connect the North end of Sairee Beach, home to several Koh Tao Resorts, with Chalok Baan Kao in the South, passing the main village of Mae Haad in the middle. Many smaller roads, diverting from this main road to some other or inner parts of the island are continuously being built. Everywhere else you will find dirt roads that may be a bit of a challenge to navigate. Many taxis are always available at both Sairee Village and Mae Haad. Make sure to negotiate a fee before using their services since they do tend to be a little expensive in relation to the distance they travel. Koh Tao Scooter | | Transport on Koh Tao also include scooters and dirt bikes. Several places in Sairee, Mae Haad and Chalok Baan rent bicycles, scooters and dirt bikes, as does several Koh Tao Resorts. Drive slowly and be careful of the steep hills and sharp bends. | | | Songthaews | | Songthaews, a pick-up truck with two rows of benches in the back, and motorcycle taxis can be flagged down next to the road and are plentiful during the day until 23:00 pm at night. At night the fees increase, so make sure you negotiate your fee before getting into a taxi. | | | Longtail Boats | | Traditional longtail boat taxis operate around the island daily and is a scenic means of transportation. This is a lovely way of cruising around the island and a relaxed way in which to see the many beautiful hidden beaches and bays around the island. |
