Koh Tao form part of an archipelago in the Thai Gulf of which Koh Samui is the largest. The island is accessible from both Surat Thani's Don Sak Pier, Chumpon pier which is located further north and closes to Bangkok or of course from Koh Samui. The is land is small, approximately 50 square kilometers, but boast incredible scenic beauty, fabulous beaches and the best diving opportunities. In fact, it is probably the most attractive location for novice divers to obtain their scuba license given the several Padi registered dive centres on the island. The island has many small bays and coves inviting snorkeling right from it's shores. Daily boat excursions from Samui and Koh Phangan is available for tourist to snorkel in the calm waters of Mango Bay on the island's north coast. Here coral and tropical fish can be viewed from depths as shallow as 4 meters. To the island's north west coast lies Nang Yuan, a small but pristine island with only one dive resort. Part of a day trip to Koh Tao will include a stop here for lunch and snorkeling.
