Getting to Samui is also quite simple with Thailand’s air, rail, bus and ferry networks well developed and reliable. Koh Samui has an international airport and both Thai and Bangkok Airways fly the route from Bangkok to Koh Samui several times per day. Flights are also available between Phuket and Koh Samui. Below is a brief description of how to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok. Please refer to our Thailand public transport time tables on the home page for flight, bus and ferry schedules to plan your transfer to your Koh Samui resort. Once on Koh Samui, we will be happy to assist with transfers from any Koh Samui Pier or from Koh Samui Airport to any Hotels in Koh Samui. Koh Samui by Air | | | Flying to Koh Samui is the fastest and most convenient of the Koh Samui transfer options, but also the more expensive option to transfer to Koh Samui. Flights can be booked with Thai Air, Air Asia or Bangkok Air. From Koh Samui International Airport to your Koh Samui resort or hotel, you can either arrange transport with your Samui hotel or Koh Samui resort. See our info under “Transportation on Koh Samui” to read more on the different types of taxis and transport options on Koh Samui. You will not have to search for a taxi. They look for you and there are plenty. If Koh Samui is not the island you will be staying on and you need to travel from here to another island, you can take the ferry from Koh Samui to either Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. The ferry for these two destinations leaves from Nathon Pier which is situated on the western shore of Koh Samui and approximately 45 minutes drive from the airport. Ferry tickets can be bought at the tourist info kiosk on the airport in Bangkok. Please view the ferry schedules on our main page under "Time Tables". | Combination Air, Bus and Ferry | | | With Thai Air and Air Asia, you can book a flight from Bangkok to Surathani Domestic airport. Here you can buy a bus ticket to be transferred from Surat Thani to Don Sak Pier from where you can take either the Raja or Seatran ferry to a Koh Samui resort, or Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. Though a longer trip (60 minutes flight, 90 minutes by bus and 2 hours by ferry) there is a mentionable price difference. The ferry ticket from Don Sak Pier to Koh Samui can be bought at the pier or on the airport in Bangkok. Again, please refer to our time tables on the main page for ferry schedules. | Koh Samui by train from Bangkok to Surat Thani | | | An even less expensive third option is to go by train. Several trains are available from Bangkok to Surat Thani and the trip takes approximately 12 hours. Tickets can be bought at Bangkok airport, at the train station or at several tourist and travel agencies across Bangkok. Train, bus and ferry combination tickets are also available. From Surat Thani to Don Sak, you will again be transferred by bus and then again from Don Sak to your Koh Samui resort by ferry. | Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran | | Tickets must be purchased at least 3 days prior to departure. The Lomprayah depart from Chumporn, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Surat Thani, please see our departure and arrival time table for more details. |
