At only 168 square kilometers, this is a rather small island, but one with many interesting activities and sights to explore. The different beaches exude diverse atmopshere, catering to every requirement as far as an island living experience go. The party culture twenty something's heads or Haad Rin which is home to the monthly full moon party, which also spawned the half moon party, black moon party and when there is no moon there is still a party. The town area here consist of winding roads alive with a vibrant atmosphere and home to endless restaurants, bars, tattoo artists and all else you can imagine. Locations like bottle beach can only be recahed by longtail boat and is serene, idyllic and tranquil. Haad Yuan beach is a 5 minute boat ride around a rocky outcrop from Haad Rin. This swath of pure white sand only houses three resorts allowing enough space for everyone. Here, a restaurant is perched high ontop of a huge boulder allowing sweeping views of the island and Gulf of Thailand. On Tong Nai Pan Beach to the east of the island is home to Koh Phangan resorts like the luxury Rasananda Private Pool Villa Resort. Many other luxury hotels like Santhiya and Panviman Resort and spa has lately seen discerning travelers spending a few nights on an island which only a few years ago still held a reputation as a backpakcer hang-out. The island is truely a destination for any occasion, age or interest and in fact, unlike many other similar islands, still retain a tropical island charm.
