Koh Nang Yuan is situated to the north-east of the Gulf of Thailand, just a few hundred meters from popular Koh Tao. It is referred to by some as the most beautiful island in the world and we certainly cannot blame them. Koh Nang Yuan consist of three hills connected only by two narrow beaches. Tours or excursions from Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, only an hour away by high speed catamaran, is offered daily. Alternatively, Koh Nang Yuan can also be reached from Chumpon or Hua Hin on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Most Koh Tao Resorts, Koh Samui hotels or Koh Phangan hotels will be able to arrange tours to this beautiful Thailand travel destination.
During the trip you will be able to swim, snorkel or just laze on the lovely beaches and come lunch time, be treated to a meal in the most beautiful surroundings. If you wish to go scuba diving, something for which this area is renowned, you can also book a night or two at the Nang Yuan dive resort and take your time exploring the underwater world around the island. Twin Rock, Green Rock and White Rock are three popular dive sites. Scuba diving excursions from Koh Tao to the popular Chumpon Pinnacle is a favourite among scuba divers and conducted almost daily.
Those interested can do a discovery dive before committing to full scuba diving training. Discovery dives allow interested persons to do an hour or so crash course, then walk in from the beach with full gear and feel what scuba diving is about. If you like it, book a course with one of many dive operators on Koh Tao and obtain an internationally recognized dive license. While on this lovely island, be sure to climb up to the viewpoint and get an eagle's eye view of the surroundings. It really is breathtaking and makes for the greatest photos.
Snorkeling is a must when visiting Koh Nang Yuan. Simply walk in from the beach and immediately see coral and tropical fish in abundance. If you are not big on snorkeling, you can rest assured the water is so clear, you can view most of what go's on beneath it by simply standing on the jetty looking all the way down to the bottom. |
