You can also reach Khao Lak by bus from Phuket with an approximate 80 Kilometer journey. Reaching Khao Lak by air from Bangkok, would be easiest if you fly to Phuket or Krabi, a taxi to Khao Lak can then be taken.

A cheaper alternative would be to hop on a bus in Bangkok. Buses headed for Takua Pa, Ranong or Surat Thani all stop at Khao Lak. Buses leave from Bangkok’s southern bus Terminal for a 10 hour trip to Khao lak daily. From Krabi there is a daily mini bus service to Khao Lak. Please contact us  bus schedules.

Be careful of buying bus tickets from travel agents in Bangkok which will have you travel to Surat Thani where you will have to change buses to go to Khao Lak. This trip can take up to 16 hours. If you do buy from them, make sure it is a direct trip Khao Lak.

To reach Khao Lak by train, you would have to travel all the way to Surat Thani on the East coast and then by bus across to Khao Lak on the West coast, making this a long and uncomfortable option.
